broadway blah

we opened rambo solo this week at soho rep.
soho rep has a new executive director and she and i were talking about vintage eyeglass frames.
because, i mean she's cool and hip. something you don't think of with an executive director. but whatever.
anyway. she used to work on broadway and she said she wore frames similar to mine. but then one of her bosses told her that wearing glasses like this is "unprofessional".
?????
seriously?
hello, broadway. the biggest spectacle in the world. concerned with someone's glasses?
lame.
this is why we all go off broadway. there are no flesh colored tights and character shoes here. just coolness.

i am anti emo post

since college i refuse to write an emo post. because that's all i wrote.
but there's this pretty awesome dude i am dating.
and i don't date anyone. ever.
but he's pretty rad.
and he is at sxsw with the rosebuds.
and the rosebuds just gave him a shout out while i was listening to the concert on npr.
blush.

end of semi lame post.

tour

tour with maps and the dynamos ended last night.
it was a sad sad time. but just getting to hang out with those dudes was pretty awesome.
now back to reality of waking up and listening to maps every morning. back to uber fan-dome.

dirty boys on tour.

dave singing: i have worn these clothes the past two days.
me: maybe you should just sing the dynamos song. you know? "I jumped out of the shower and put on the clothes i just had on before."
dave: but i didn't take a shower so that's a huge lie.

yes

i am listening to the tings tings. and you can mock me if you want to. but that just makes you less of a person.

oy.

my pim-p boys are going out again.
with two of my other fav bands.
dynamos: those boys that live in a house near my home town and are my friends and always bring a smile to my face like it's their job and they're good at it. i'm going to miss that backyard porch when that house is gone.
maps: from going to house parties and NOT seeing them play (because the ex didn't want to stick around in a situation that was definitely a fire hazard), to hanging out at a park in fort greene, and eating vegan deliciousness with dave.
i am all smiles.
and as #1 would say, i am all teeth.

sometimes...

there is a distinct moment every month or so that convinces me that new york is super cool. doesn't happen much, but when it happens, it really happens.

met beth in union square for a catch up hot chocolate. was getting on the L to go back to brooklyn and i sat on a bench thing. there was some awesome guy getting down on his guitar. i didn't know the song, but dude was good. when it was over he asked the crowd if anyone knew who it was by. he was shocked that some 20 something knew it was an eagles song. then things got crazy. he started a medley of well known sixties songs. people started dancing. he would drop out at the choruses and everyone would sing together.

it was the only time waiting for the L that i have seen people having fun and not trying to be cool.

i asked the guy sitting next to me if we were in a movie and if in a few measures we would all start spontaneous yet synchronized choreography. that didn't happen. but some day...

some day...

sigh of relief

he is off of that terrible team that inhabits my city. and off to a better one.
